Gift

Lost at sea, she screamed
To no avail. So, lost in her mind
She dreamed and escaped reality, the misguided sail.

Vivid, wild and wanton,
They threatened to drive her
Insane with all the images
The love, the want, the ridges.
Lost at sea, but she dreamed
Of fields cleared green
Of love painted red
And of silent black nights
That promised to end in yellow sunrise.

Lost at sea, a turmoil inside
To let the waves consume her,
Or to strive to survive.
To give life a chance or to embrace what was destined
To wake up today or to dream till reality fades
Into the grey, thrashing waves.

Days went by like months and the hours passed like seconds.
The desperation grew and need to give in got the better of her.
And just as she was going to go under,
The waves went still and the skies stopped their thunder.
Carried ashore in a throne of white, she was saved by the very reason of her strife.

So, what was lost had been found,
And what was found, cherished.
Treasured, loved and the pain had been buried.
Waking up to a new life, with new faith and courage.

Palindrome

You can laugh all you want, seeing me like this.

A clueless wanderer lost in his way,

Hoping for gold in endless bales of hay.

I might not know what I’m looking for tonight,

And you can laugh all you want at my futile searches.

You’ll watch me rise from hell’s pits to sunrise,

And I’ll laugh at you then, blinding you with my light.
